Bangkok Art Biennale returns for its fifth edition from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027. Under the theme Angels and Mara, the city becomes the setting for a sustained encounter with contemporary art across cultural landmarks, heritage spaces and public locations.
The four-month programme makes this a useful anchor for an autumn or winter art itinerary: visitors can return to different venues instead of trying to see everything in a single day.
Art across the city
The biennale is organised by the Bangkok Art Biennale Foundation in collaboration with Thai Beverage, with public- and private-sector support. Its announced approach places contemporary work in dialogue with Bangkok's existing cultural and architectural landscape.
Plan by neighbourhood and check the official venue map as programmes are released. A multi-site exhibition rewards a different pace from a single museum: travel, opening hours and the character of each setting all shape the experience. Where a venue is a functioning religious site, follow its dress and visitor requirements. Individual performances and special activities may have their own schedules.
