Blazing: Chetsada Phuwiang at Nova Contemporary

Blazing, Chetsada Phuwiang's first solo exhibition with Nova Contemporary, runs from 24 October to 19 December 2026. The paintings bring fragments of the body into shifting fields of colour and texture.

The presentation coincides with the artist's participation in Bangkok Art Biennale 2026.

A figure coming into focus

Phuwiang combines sand, oil and acrylic with airbrush. Parts of a body may appear to sharpen before becoming less certain again, with light drawing on both nightlife and natural environments.

Give the paintings room to change with your viewing distance. An area that reads as atmosphere from across the gallery may resolve into grain and material at closer range. That movement between surface and recognition offers a direct way to engage with the work's tension between visibility and vulnerability.

The show is a useful stop for visitors following emerging Thai painting alongside the larger biennale programme.
