DYSTOPIA: Vasan Sitthiket at New Orleans Art Gallery

DYSTOPIA presents Vasan Sitthiket's politically engaged perspective at New Orleans Art Gallery through 29 November 2026. The exhibition's artist statement connects environmental destruction, unequal power and conflict.

It is a direct, argumentative approach to art, intended to provoke attention and discussion.

An exhibition with a stated position

The artist frames the work as a critique of extractive capitalism and the damage it causes to communities and the natural world. These are the artist's expressed positions, which form the context for the presentation.

A useful visit can hold two questions together: what argument is being made, and how does the artwork make it? Attend to image, emphasis and emotional register as well as the accompanying text. Agreement with a political position and an assessment of an artwork's methods are related but distinct responses.

The exhibition offers a more confrontational stop within an exploration of Bangkok's independent spaces.
