Love After Death brings Korakrit Arunanondchai's moving-image practice to Bangkok CityCity Gallery through 14 November 2026. The exhibition draws together video, performance and scenes filmed in an abandoned cinema in Lopburi.
A fictional narration connects the project with the Lanna legend of Sihuhata, a creature associated with transforming coal into gold.
Cinema as a shared encounter
The gallery describes the exhibition through relationships between spirit mediumship, artists and the tradition of ghost cinema. Light, heat, memory and feeling become part of an attempt to give the exhibition space the character of a living body.
Allow enough time for the moving-image work to establish its rhythm. Entering a sequence midway can be revealing, but staying longer may change how a recurring sound or image is understood. The exhibition rewards attention to the room and to the experience of watching alongside others, not only to what appears on a screen.
