Royal Barge Craftsmanship at ICONSIAM: Colors, A Reflection of Creation

Colors, A Reflection of Creation–Aesthetics in Art brings royal barge craftsmanship to ICONSIAM until 8 November 2026. Presented by the Royal Navy and ICONSIAM, the exhibition offers a close view of forms usually understood as part of a procession on water.

The display includes 52 miniature barges arranged to reflect the procession's formation.

Detail, symbolism and collective form

Information about the vessels' roles accompanies the models. A large replica of Suphannahong and multimedia material extend the presentation beyond the miniature display.

Look first at the whole arrangement, then focus on one vessel. The shift between collective formation and individual craft can reveal how an object functions both visually and ceremonially. Read the explanatory material to distinguish decorative detail from the specific role a barge holds.

The exhibition can be paired with other cultural displays within ICONSIAM, while allowing time for the details that miniature work rewards.
