The Sacred Mountain: Jinjoon Lee at Gallery VER

What remains sacred when technology can model memory and the mind? Jinjoon Lee brings that question to Gallery VER in The Sacred Mountain, opening on 24 October and continuing until 19 December 2026.

The solo exhibition places bodily actions, natural materials and computational systems together, offering an encounter with contemporary art that moves beyond a conventional display of objects.

Ritual, material and machine

The gallery describes an environment incorporating a mountain walk, the burning and polishing of driftwood, a machine performing a repeated ritual, and sound produced through a virtual brain based on a fruit fly's connectome. Visitors enter the relationship between these elements rather than observing a single isolated subject.

A useful approach is to compare repetition across the different media. A repeated bodily movement, a machine's cycle and a sound pattern may look related while carrying very different meanings. Notice where your attention shifts from the process itself to the value you assign to it.

The exhibition's question is not simply whether a machine can imitate us. It asks what actions give something significance, and whether an artistic encounter can alter the way we orient ourselves in the world.
