Htein Lin's Zootopia is on view at West Eden from 21 October to 27 December 2026. Presented with Coming from Kalaw, the exhibition brings painted hangings and masks into a world of animals, hybrid figures and personal stories.

This is an artist's exhibition, distinct from the entertainment franchise sharing its title, and offers a focused introduction to Htein Lin's imaginative visual language.

Animals carrying human stories

The organiser identifies works that connect Myanmar song, literature and remembered places. Ya Mone Na Patt Pyo reimagines a fisherman's story, while My Hope for a Metamorphosis draws on Kafka and uses multiple hands to spell hope. Arachnid Enclave is linked with the artist's work at Grace Estate in Pindaya.

A useful starting point is to notice the transition between human and animal features before looking for a single symbolic explanation. What changes when a familiar expression appears on an unexpected body? Compare the painted surfaces with the masks and consider how each format addresses you.

The show provides a compelling opportunity to explore how storytelling can move between memory, imagination and transformation.
