Twenty paintings bring emerging and established artistic voices together in the 17th UOB Painting of the Year Exhibition at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The exhibition runs from 20 October to 15 November 2026.
Presented by United Overseas Bank (Thai), it occupies the fifth-floor Curved Wall, making it an easy addition to a visit to BACC's wider programme.
A conversation between paintings
The centre's announcement emphasises the stories carried by the works rather than offering a detailed artist list. The most rewarding way to approach the presentation is therefore to let the paintings establish their own connections.
Start with a work that immediately attracts you and identify what brought you closer: colour, composition, a figure or an unfamiliar treatment of the surface. Then compare it with a painting that initially seems less accessible. The difference can reveal as much about your habits as a viewer as it does about the exhibition.
A second pass through the display is useful after reading the labels. It gives individual works room to become more than examples of a style or entries in a competition.
